JJ hospital performs first Cadaveric Kidney Transplant

In Mumbai, state-run JJ hospital conducted its first cadaveric kidney transplant. Appreciations to the family of a brain-dead Karjat women that agreed to donate her organs on Tuesday, on Ganapati Visarjan.

On Tuesday, 45-year-old donor Tara Pawar’s husband, Shravan hardly took a few minutes to decide on donating his wife’s organs. This is the first cadaveric kidney transplant done by any state government-run hospital. JJ hospital Dean Dr. T P Lahane said: “We have made a start, and more will follow.”

Tara’s another kidney was given to a patient in Jupiter hospital while her liver was transplanted into a patient at Apollo Hospital in Navi Mumbai.
