Based on a report in Hindustan Times, the Union cabinet raised the retirement phase of central government doctors to 65 years with a goal to meet the lack of medical staff, particularly super specialists, in the country.
The government’s decision will apply to all AYUSH and central government doctors and dentists apart from those in the Central Health Service (CHS), which includes those working in the railways and armed forces.
The government decision is expected to not only enhance patient care services but also meet lack of staff in government medical colleges, that is proving to be a huge problem.
